Launch of the VF-2WB, 2 flute wide ball nose end mill

November 05, 2008

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new 2 flute wide ball nose end mill, VF-2WB for the IMPACT MIRACLE end mill series. These will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo).
VF-2WB In recent years, workpiece geometries of aerospace, medical instrument and automotive parts have become even more complicated, and the requirement for the machining of geometries that are difficult to machine with conventional ball nose end mills is increasing.

To respond to such customer demands, the VF-2WB end mil series has been developed to have a larger R-shaped cutting edge than a conventional ball nose end mill. This makes it suitable for machining more complicated geometries. Additionally, the unique cutting edge geometry helps to reduce cutting resistance, making it possible to carry out high precision machining.

Furthermore, use of the versatile VF-2WB end mill with a 5-axis machine enables machining of more complex geometries.

Features of the VF-2WB

1.
By widening the R-shaped cutting edge to 220º, it is now possible machine complex geometries such as undercut geometry.
2.
Unique cutting edge geometry reduces cutting resistance, therefore achieving high precision machining.
3
Use of Impact Miracle coating with superior heat resistance. Precision, high quality machining can be achieved with high film hardness and oxidation resistance.
