Expansion of the MHS solid carbide drills for die & mould machining

November 05, 2008

Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida, Tokyo) will expand the stocked items for the MHS solid carbide drills for die & mould machining.
MHS The MHS was launched in June 2008 as the new drill series to complement the existing WSTAR series. It is capable of non-peck drilling of plates (35~55HRC) used for resin & die casting moulds and this results in a reduction of the overall manufacturing process. The original line up consisted of integral diameters and increments of 0.5mm. This latest expansion will see items with 0.8mm set as standard items (6.8mm, 7.8mm etc).

Features of the MHS

1.
Capable of non-peck drilling of shallow to deep holes in pre-hardened and hardened steel.
2.
High precision drilling is possible due to the use of a unique guide pad design and high rigidity geometry.
3
Shank diameters are even, possible to use in combination with milling holders.
4
Flute lengths have been designed for use with the various plates thicknesses used in the die & mould industry, making it easy to make machining programmes.
