Launch of GY series, new grooving tools

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new range of grooving tools, GY series. The GY series will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
The GY series is a new grooving tool designed to offer ultimate rigidity and accuracy for stable grooving applications. The modular system (1) allows flexible tool selection while maintaining overall strength for stable machining. Additionally, a wide variety of inserts makes it possible to cover a diverse range of machining applications, ensuring high efficiency, high precision machining.Key features of the GY series

- Tri Lock system
Ensures that the new modular blade is securely located from 3 directions (side, front and top). This leads to high tool rigidity comparable to a mono block type holder. - 2.
- A wide variety of inserts
Insert widths are available in 10 types ranging from 2.0 to 6.35mm. Corner radii are available standard up to 4 types ranging from 0.2 to 0.8mm. Additionally, chip breakers are offered in 5 types to cover various applications, grooving, multifunctional grooving, copying and cutting off. Good chip control and excellent surface finishes can be obtained. Miracle coated VP10RT and VP20RT are available for steel machining and a CBN grade MB8025 for finishing hardened steel. This means that tool life can be extended.
