Addition to the Dimple Bar series: C and T type insert holders

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured C and T type insert holders for its chatter-resistant boring bar, Dimple Bar series. These new holders will be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Tanaka, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
The Dimple Bar series is a range of chatter-resistant boring bars suitable for deep boring applications where conventional steel boring bars tend to suffer from problems such as chattering.Since the initial launch the series has enjoyed a good reputation for a wide range of boring applications it covers.
The new C and T type insert holders will be supplied to respond to a strong demand from users for holders with larger inserts for the same boring diameter as the conventional holders.
Key features of the Dimple Bar series

- The head has a large dimple to reduce the weight of the tip of the boring bar and improve the vibration damping properties. This lightweight dimple head mechanism reduces vibrations during machining and delivers high vibration resistance.

- Special surface treatment of the body provide higher corrosion and abrasion resistance.
- 3.
- A scale is etched on the shank, making it possible for operators to set overhang length with ease.
