Launch of the APX4000 Multi-Functional End Mill Series

July 11, 2006

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new range of multi-functional indexable end mills, APX4000 . These new cutters will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).

APX4000   The APX4000 series will be offered to expand the successful series of APX3000 multi-functional indexable cutters, launched in October 2004. APX4000 allows for the maximum 15mm depth of cut, and incorporates the same design concept as the APX 3000 series and features the 3 main factors necessary for efficient machining; low cutting resistance, high fracture resistance and long tool life. VP15TF grade inserts are available to cover a wide variety of workpiece materials.

Key features of the APX4000 series are as follows.

1.
Maximum depth of cut: 15mm
2.
Good chip evacuation and low cutting resistance due to the unique, convex cutting edge and the large rake angle. Maximum performance is possible even on low-rigidity machine tools.
3.
High-rigidity cutting edge due to the eccentric relief geometry.
4.
Long tool life with the coated grade VP15TF, suitable for a wider range of workpiece materials.
5.
Slashes tool loads in the subsequent machining processes due to a high wall surface accuracy.
6.
A large ramping angle allows high-efficiency 3-D machining when pocketing and also permits contoured surface milling.
