Launch of the Small Tool Series "Dimple Boring Bar"

March 01, 2006

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured a new Dimple type turning tool holder for its small tools series. The holders will be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).

Dimple Boring Bar   The Small Tools Series was designed for machining precision small parts and covers a wide variety of machining methods including front and back turning, grooving, threading and cutting off, in addition to drilling and end milling. Since the initial launch the series has enjoyed a good reputation for the wide range of machining applications it covers.
The new Dimple type holder will be supplied to respond to a strong demand from users with drill holder type tool posts on small CNC lathes. It also makes outer diameter copying available for the second spindle (back spindle). Due to the complexity of some parts and the large quantity of tools required to machine them, the versatility of this holder also helps to solve the problem of the shortage of conventional turning tool positions.

Key features of this Dimple tool holder are as follows.

1.
Development of a shank diameter which enables installation into drill type tool posts of small CNC and small automatic lathes.
2.
Superior resistance to vibration due to the small Dimple head design.
3.
Allows machining of precision small parts thanks to high-grade inserts with E-class tolerance.
