Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently released the new SRB series, a high precision-economy range of indexable ball end mills. Inserts for the SRB use the latest grinding technologies that can provide both a high precision ground radius form and a competitive price, therefore making the tool highly suitable for semi-finishing through to finishing applications for the die & mould industry.

Insert Geometries:
The inserts for the SRB series cover an extensive diameter range required for mould and die applications. The series includes diameters f10, f 12, f 16, f 20, f 25, f 30 and f 32.
The inserts use a new grinding technology that offers a high precision ground form for high surface accuracy but at a competitive, economical price. Additionally the inserts have a chip breaker on the periphery to ensure a reduction in cutting resistance when machining angled faces. This also ensures that vibration is eliminated to help achieve the required surface finishes.
Insert Grade:
The SRB inserts are available in a Miracle coated grade, VP15TF. A micro-grain cemented carbide substrate, TF15, coupled with the highly acclaimed Miracle coating offers both high wear and fracture resistance. The grade is suitable machining a wide range of workpiece materials, including carbon and hardened steels through to cast irons.
Tool bodies:
The tool bodies are available in both steel and carbide shanks. The steel shank encompasses a range of standard, semi-long, long and extra-long types. The carbide shank type covers standard and long lengths. Therefore, depending on the application, it’s possible to select the most appropriate body. Additionally, the bodies can also be used with the inserts from the existing high performance SRF range.
