Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently released a new solid CBN tool grade, MBS140, to complement its existing CBN range.

Previous CBN inserts have only been available with a small CBN section brazed onto a carbide base that limited the depth of cut that could be taken in one pass. However with the introduction of a solid type of CBN insert, this limitation no longer applies making it is possible to take larger depths of cut leading for an overall increase in machining performance.

Insert Grade:
MBS140 is a tool grade that has uses a high CBN content in combination with a metal binder (aluminium compound). This offers high hardness for longer, stable tool life when compared to conventional tool grades..
Insert Geometries:
The MBS140 is available in a number of insert geometries. A total of 19 different types are available for a wide range of machining applications.
